All About Chef Elana Korn

Chef Elana Korn's love of the kitchen began as soon as she was able to reach the stove.  A natural in the kitchen, Chef Elana found that her favorite way to make people happy was by feeding them.  All through her youth in New Jersey, she catered small parties and worked as an extra set of hands in customers' holiday and party kitchens.

While completing her undergraduate degree at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, Chef Elana had the opportunity to apprentice at the renowned Deux Cheminées in Philadelphia.  Just one year after receiving her BA from Brandeis, Chef Elana also graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Advanced Standing program at the prestigious College of Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI.

From there, Chef Elana spent several years at The Country Club in Brookline, MA, the country's oldest private country club.  After living in the Boston area for 10 years, Chef Elana left her position as Banquet Sous Chef at The Club and returned to New Jersey where she worked at The Riverfront Café in Harrison.  During her time there, the restaurant was awarded 3.5 stars from the Newark Star Ledger, a "Very Good" from the New York Times, with mention in their end-of-the-year best entrées list, as well as a "24" from the Zagat Guide.

After taking a break from cooking to pursue a graduate degree from Rutgers School of Law - Camden and passing the New Jersey Bar Exam, Chef Elana realized that she missed the kitchen.  In 2004, Chef Elana began working as a Personal Chef, and has had the privilege of cooking for some of New Jersey's most prestigious families.

With a preference for organic, seasonal and locally grown and produced items, Chef Elana is sure to please your palate with her unfailing ability to choose the best quality items.  Her good relationships with local producers, growers, butchers and fishmongers allows her to procure the choicest ingredients, resulting in the outstanding hand-crafted finished product you expect from a chef of her expertise.

In her spare time, Chef Elana enjoys reading fiction, collecting jadite and signed cookbooks, helping several worthy causes, snuggling her two dogs and spending time with her loved ones. A life-long "Jersey Girl," Chef Elana lives in the beautiful hills of Hunterdon County with her family.
